These hard nose free marketeer heroes the author describes actually depend and rely on the Government for its income. Only slight downsides are : the "aw shucks" romance between two lead characters in the first book, but it doesn't intrude too much on the action: and, from a UK perspective, the constant denigrating of government services/servants is a bit tiresome. Excellent combination of action (guns guns guns), techo-thriller (secret goverment agencies), monsters (Lovecraft, LOTR,Hammer Horror etc etc etc) and (whisper it) superhero mythology (no spoilers, but it would be the best comic series ever).
